Need a Little Christmas?

Oh, yes, I need a little Christmas...perhaps in the form of finished socks...

teacher gifts (Sketchy pattern, by my friend at Shanalines Designs, thanks Shana!)...

the first tree I've put up this year, which is (ironically) at my office...

Although the house is "ready to receive tree,"

and the cookie baking

 

and caramel making has begun,

my tree will likely be in that red bag until tomorrow... which is ok, as long as it's up by Thanksgiving! We decorate right after dinner, so that tree is a major player...I hope it's ready! 

Speaking of Thanksgiving, I'd like to take this moment to say that I'm thankful for everyone who reads this pretty silly blog, and many who do not. Without the people around me, I'd just be another lost soul, searching for so many somethings missing in my life. I'm thankful for family, friends, co-workers, and even the difficult people I occasionally encounter. All of you help to make me all that I am. Thanks! 

And now it's time to move on to the next batch of whatever is still waiting for me in that kitchen!

December 7th? Already?

What can I say about December 7th? I could say that we are 1 full week into the month that brings us Christmas and New Year's Eve, with all the yummy treats these winter holidays bring with them!

I could say that today marks the wrapping of my 3rd batch of Christmas caramels (so far) this season!

I could even say that today is the day for a favorite craft show that I went to with Jess!

Or, I could say that today is the day before one of my most favorite-est holiday events of the year...the Annual Knitter's Christmas Party!

We have sooo much fun every year! 

Now, having dropped that info, I'm going to sign off. I am, after all, this year's hostess...and the PARTY IS TOMORROW! So much to do before I go to bed tonight!

Time to Make the Caramel

Because it's never really not time to make Caramel, right? Because caramel is delicious in all seasons!

We played hooky from work on Thursday for a day trip to Amish Country, where I only took a couple photos of lunch and one shop. And when we got home, I cut a few lines of caramel to wrap for a birthday party!

Between January and November, I always seem to forget how long the process can take, but the end result is always so worth it. (I made the caramel Wednesday night, and cut/wrapped on Thursday, which is a pretty good turnaround time!)

I also seem to forget how long it takes to knit a sweater, well, between sweaters! I love my new sweater still, and I'm glad it's finished, but it took weeks...

...and I have sweaters to knit for the girls yet! Luckily, I am well on my way to having a Cam the Cat hoodie. This one will be followed up with some illusion knitting for the other sister, but one thing at a time in my knitting!

Speaking of one thing at a time, I'm scheduled to spend some time with a super-cute Starbucks lover, so I'm going to cut this short. I hope you also have some fun things planned this weekend!

No Christmas Shoes Here

Nope. No Christmas Shoes here at all. But I'd sure like to have enough hand-knit Christmas socks that I could wear a different pair for each day from Dec 1-25! Im about halfway there now...

I'd also like to add to my Christmas jewelry collection. Since I can't wear earrings, that means more pins amd necklaces. So you can imagine how exited I was when my daughter made this impulse purchase for me at a local bakery yesterday!

I love this pin, and I'm going to wear the heck out of it this month! Maybe even into the New Year... While I wear it, I'll just keep working on socks and mystery gnome knitalongs...

...and I have orders for a stocking and a  Psyduck hoodie and a rainbow Yoshi, not to mention the candy I have yet to make. 

Looks like I won't be getting much sleep this month! But all of the things are fun for me, even more fun with Christmas around the corner!

No Gingerbread Yet?

December is getting away from me! It is December second, and the month is already getting away from me...how does that even happen? Well, I'll tell ya...there was this craft show (Christmas in the Barn), where I bought this spider, and it was a fun event to attend! 

But I still haven't started the gingerbread...though I did manage an extra batch of Christmas caramel before I left the house at 8:45am.

There were so many good, crafty items to see and shop that, despite my best efforts to be home before lunch, I didn't leave the church until nearly 2pm! Lol...down the rabbit hole again, Alice...but look at all the goodness...!

Anyway, I'm home now, and I still haven't started the gingerbread. But I have started a pair of 2020 Advent stripe socks, and I'm not behind on those yet (Note: it is only Dec 2)...

and I've worn hand-knit, Christmas socks every day for over a week...

and my tree is up, with frosted, sugar cookies and wraped caramels on it (but no gingerbread yet)...

and I have a Christmas spider! I've been looking for a Christmas spider for years, and now I have one! I'm going to celebrate that victory... Hip! Hip! Hooray!

The rest will get done, as long as I dont let December get too far away from me! How is your December going? Don't ask? Okay, forget I've asked. 😉

Not Quite Turkey Time

Where's your turkey? Mine is in the freezer, but I'll be moving it to the fridge for thawing well before I go to bed tonight. 

While I was checking on the turkey, I noticed that my butter stock is a little low... for this time of year anyway!

I'll use about two pounds on the Thanksgiving feast alone in just a few days. Butter goes in all the good stuff...on the bird, in the potatoes, stuffing and corn! It's especially good in the homemade rolls, and in my second batch of Christmas caramel! Yummm!

Second batch because we may put up the tree this weekend and decorate it on Turkey Day! We will need wrapped candies for that...and cookies too! I'd better take a break from this sweater and start baking!

Party Day!

Short post, because it's PARTY DAY! Party Caramel proves it...

Today is the day that we celebrate the newly-minted 3- year-old, 

and the nearly-minted 5- year-old!

Heck! Even the baby is excited for a party! 

There will be cake and chili and cookies and snacks, and many photos...but not before blog-time. So here's one last pic, some of the beauty of fall in Northeast Ohio!

It's November, Yo!

No shade to my friends whose houses already look like this:

but, it's November, yo! November 4th, and my house looks like this:

That's not to say that I am not in the "Holiday Spirit." I mean, I did make Christmas caramel this morning. 

Of course, that's because it's been requested for the birthday party next week, and it needs time to cool and rest before we cut it up and wrap it. So, it is now cooling and resting, yay!

Since I was at it, with the Christmas caramel and all, I also managed a batch of cookies to pop into the freezer. I mean, it's November, yo! Any guesses what these will be, friends?

I also have a pot of chicken soup on the stove, and I am enjoying some holiday knitting (can't show you, because it's November, yo!), and so I might as well watch a Hallmark Christmas movie, right? I mean, it's November, yo! Also, I might have too much yarn, so I have to do some knitting!
