Randomly weird? Sounds about right!

Here is just a little bit of random weirdness from my week:

The last, best, most stale Peep of my season.
It has three eyes. Or a really strange mole.
Either way, weird.

The Snorta animals, tucked into the barns.
The three-year-old has put them to bed.
It is 8:45am. Weird, but cute.

Regulation-sized sofa seam.
Four very tiny knitted people, two without hair.
No idea why, but weirdly weird.

And that's about all I've got. Be watching for more adventures from the "Human Beans" that I will surely be knitting in the near future. I know it's weird, but I want a bunch of these things to keep me company!

How weird has your weekend been? Even if it has been exceedingly weird, I hope that you have found some fun and some down time as you prepare for the week ahead.

The Look

Sometimes, all it takes is one look.
You know the one...the look that says, "Hey there, Grandma and Grandpa!"

March 2011 - she made us grands, Oooh!

The look that says, "I'll love you forever!," even though she can't know yet what forever is.

The look that says, "I'm the little sister! Who are you?"

January 2015

The look of toddler mischief that can only be aided by a proper Pop Pop!

The look that says, "A grandson! I'm a grandson!"

November 2018

The look that says that he will always be up for finding some "trouble" to get into!

The look that says, "I'm the little brother. Who are all these people?"

October 2020

The look that says, "I will love you aggressively and laugh at every tickle!"

The look that says, "Woah! Another little brother! Are there any more in there?"

April 2022

And I'm honestly not sure what his toddler look will be, but I bet it'll be a good one!

Welcome to our world, little one. It's a fun place, and I can't wait to figure out just who you are.

To all my friends with littles underfoot, or teens under your roofs, hang in there. These years, the golden years of grandparenthood, will be your reward. If you have ever had a grandma or a grandpa pour into your heart and life, you know how important these relationships can be on both ends. Love well, and it always comes back to you, even when you least expect it.

Thanks for stopping by, and now it's time for this Grandma to go Knit in Good Health!

(You should do the same! #knitemifyagotem)

They're Multiplying!

Every once in awhile, I look down at the table near where I knit to find that I have made another toy. I am not entirely sure how this happens, and it is not always (or usually even) planned, but there you are. Boom! Toy-in-progress in very close proximity to my needles. I actually noticed this one just before it had ears...

"What's that," said the bunny.
"Don't be a wise guy," said I. "I'm sure your ears can't be far behind." And they were not.

All in all, Bunny-Number-One turned out pretty good. But you know rabbits...they are always lurking around in the shadows, up to something...yanno, looking for trouble.

I looked away for, I promise you it wasn't more than a minute, and Boom! Another bunny showed up, also without ears.

"Hmmm, I'm not sure we have enough for your ears," said the first bunny.
"What's that?," said the second bunny.
"Don't be a wise guy," said I. "You know we have more yarn." And we did.

And Bunny-Number-Two was also pretty cute!

But honest-to-Easter, they hopped off into the shadows, and before I knew it, look what happened.

Yes, that's right. Bunny-Number-Three, right there on that table near where I knit. Oy.

"What's that?!?," said the first bunny.
"Don't be a wise guy," said the second bunny.
"Talk louder!," said the third bunny. "I've fallen and I can't get up!"

"Oh, my stars," said I. "I guess that's what I get for finding more bunny yarn."

The last time I looked, that third bunny was still lying there, sans arms, legs and ears. I'd help him out, but tomorrow is a holiday, and I have lots of cooking to do. Besides, the other two really didn't need my help, did they?

I hope your life has not been taken over by rabbits, unless that's your kind of thing. I also hope that you are finding quiet moments each day, week and month to do the things you enjoy...yanno, like knitting rabbits!

Until next time, thanks for stopping by and Hoppy Easter to you all tomorrow!

As always, may you Knit in Good Health!

And Then There Were None

And then there were none...and it was a very sad week.

Even though yesterday was the first anniversary of the day we closed on our loan for the new house, there was little celebrating. I looked down at my lap, and it was empty.

I looked on the floor,

next to me, on the sofa,

on the table,

even in the tv stand, where she used to hide in the shadow next to the speaker with the digital clock on it.

But she was not there, and at every turn, I almost forget that she's not going to be there anymore. And I'm sad. Because I liked the feel of a cat in my lap, under my knitting.

I liked knowing that, even though this one was more of a jerk than sweet, like her sister,

it was comforting to know that she was there. To know that she would be there. And now she is not.

As her final gift to me, she passed with her very annoyed, and very familiar, "What the H-E-double-hockey-stick?" scowl on her face...if you knew her, you know the look.

It's gonna be ok, and I'm gonna be okay, but first I'm gonna be just a little sad.

And then I'm gonna laugh at that last memory, because why would that jerk-face cat go in any other way? She never really trusted people, any people, let alone her favorite people. But she had been so lonely since we put her sister-cat down, so sad and lonely that she also got sick, and it was her turn.

They say that the last loving thing you do for your pet is knowing when to let go...and as much of a jerk as she could be, I loved her. I will miss her. It was time.

Now, I think I'll go knit for awhile. I won't worry about a cat stealing my stitch markers or sucking on my alpaca yarn, or even stuffing her head into a sleeve... I'll just knit for a bit, in peaceful grief, until I process this loss so I can move onto better times.

I sincerely hope that your week has been more fun than mine. Whether it has or not, I hope you have some knitting, or other comfort, at hand to get you through.

Thanks for stopping by, and Knit in Good Health.

Around the Sun, in 365 Days!

One more time around the sun, and that brings me to 54! So, how did I spend my week? Probably just as you expect...there were crafts...

This chick came into town with her daddy
and her sister, and we crafted and crafted!

We made this! It was super fun!

So many crafts! And grandkids...

Pop Pop is the Candy Man, aaand his beard is ticklish!

Can I take your picture, if I promise candy?

So excited for my birthday! And candy, lol!

Best shot of this little dude (and his Pop Pop)!

Rumikub! Snorta! Uno! Fun games!

So many grandkids! And sweets...

So many sweets! And finished objects...

Zebra toy for baby shower.

Bright Axis Tee that I have wanted to knit
since last summer, finished!

Well, just the two finished objects...but both are super cute! Am I right, or am.I.right!?!

That sweater is something I've been working on intermittently, first because I realized that I just did not have the right striping yarn and then because there were other crafts and kiddos that demanded my attention way more (see photos above!).

Overall, it was a great week, and that sweater pic pretty accurately describes my birthday vibe by the end of the week, super stoked!

Today is a little lower key, because it's not about me at all, but the recipient of that cutie-pie zebra-toy! Baby shower ahead, so I have on something cute, all the gifts are securely stuffed in giant clouds of tissue paper and stuffed into a teal bag with white polka dots and curly ribbon, and we are ready to go!

But I thought I'd blog before I go, and say hello to all my crafty friends!

Hi Crafty Friends!

I hope your Saturday is super, and I hope this trip around the sun is a good one for you, too! What are you looking forward to for your next birthday? Whatever it is, I hope it meets your expectations, and that you have some moments that it IS about you!

Thanks for stopping by, and for all the birthday wishes this week! Now, go Knit in Good Health! (because...#selfcare!)
