My Summer Vacation

My summer vacation was so much fun. I got to see my friends,

and I played with a lot of yarn.

I also got to ride many roller coasters at Cedar Point. I rode with my family,

and I rode with strangers,

and I rode with friends. It was so much fun.

I also did some knitting at the beach, 

and I even finished a sweater this summer.

I went to a fiber festival with my friends.

I taught classes and gave away ducks at a knitting retreat,

and I finished a 5K walk/run.

My family had a fun 4th of July party!

My sweetie and me went to Nashville. We walked down Broadway, and we had dinner at the Chiefs bar. 

We did not throw any chairs off the roof, because we are not Morgan Wallen!

I treasured 5 cousins on a couch, 

and at the zoo, 

and some of us went to the movies too.

We mostly went to Cedar Point, which was so fun,

and we went fishing.

We also flew kites

and watched a lot of baseball.

I am glad that I had a good summer vacation!

Unlikely Hymns

As I finished up my work day, heading to the ladies' room before locking up, a song 🎶 popped into my head: 

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! 
I did not wet my pants!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! 
Must have done the right dance!
I got to the potty in the nick of time, 

And I'm happy to say that my pants are still dry!

Those of you familiar with the hymn will recognize that these lyrics are fairly far-removed from the original...which is entirely on-brand for Pretty! The fact that the lyrics are new doesn't make my hymn any less of a praise, though, and I do regularly praise the Lord in small victories, as well as the big stuff. As a "woman of a certain age," not wetting my pants is occasionally a major victory!

I'm glad that I can praise the Lord in all things, and I'm glad that I can do all things through him who gives me strength! 

Like knitting!

And knitting makes my heart joyful, which is good medicine.

Knitting has brought joy and so many fun friends into my life, and friends increase joy, too! 

This weekend I'm spending time with some friends near the lake. 

Some of us enjoy a nice drink with dinner...

Some of us have matching pajamas...

...and all of us have knitting! 

So, praise the Lord! for dry pants, and a Lakeside weekend with friends, patio donuts and knitting...among other things.

There they are!

Universal Truths

This week, I found that there are still things that are universally true. For example, if you grow a pretty flower, and you post a picture to Facebook, someone, somewhere will agree with you that the flower is pretty. Maybe someone else won't be impressed, but that's ok. This week, I got to "chat" with a friend in Japan who also loves the simple beauty of Morning Glory blooms!

Also, if you throw something sticky at the ceiling, it will stick to the ceiling. I guess I didn't realize how sticky this little kawaii squishy chicken was...until the three-year-old whipped it up to the ceiling with most of his strength! He thought it would bounce down hard, and we were both surprised that this chick just hung there for a rest! Hahaha!

Oh! And if one knits a green dinosaur, it will be universally accepted, without question. But, if one knits a rainbow dinosaur, well...there will be questions. This knitter doesn't care. Bring on the questions!

Does he like crunchy, cheese snacks? Well, did you see his yellow paws?

But watch out, he also likes coffee. Hey! Get away from there, Cheese-Paws!

Too late. Lol...

Oh, and if you go to the beach with kids, even if you don't plan to go into the water...

...those littles will find a way to be completely wet and covered in sand! 

(Both of the bigger boys looked like this, but that middle kid is too fast for my camera! And, if you're worried, the baby and I stayed off the sand. We were only covered in sweat...ha!)

Lastly, and perhaps the most universal truth I learned this week is this: If you ask a child who is drawing a "Pirate Map" whether there are sharks in the water, you will soon be singing Baby Shark while the mommies in the room roll their eyes! I did not take a picture of this moment, but if you are a parent...or a grandparent, an aunt or an uncle, or a child-care worker in any capacity...you know the truth of this one!

Hmmm, I can't explain it, but I have a sudden urge to knit a baby shark. Who'd a-thunk it?!? 

::Ummm, anyone who has ever known you, Pretty!::

Hahaha! That's right! I know that's right!!! <smacks leg, rolls over with laughter!> I don't think it's a universal truth, but it is a very truth-y truth, to be sure! 

There is one more truth I'd like to end with, and that is this: Most people, in most places, will respond to kindness with kindness. So be kind this week, friends!
