Unlikely Hymns

As I finished up my work day, heading to the ladies' room before locking up, a song 🎶 popped into my head: 

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! 
I did not wet my pants!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! 
Must have done the right dance!
I got to the potty in the nick of time, 

And I'm happy to say that my pants are still dry!

Those of you familiar with the hymn will recognize that these lyrics are fairly far-removed from the original...which is entirely on-brand for Pretty! The fact that the lyrics are new doesn't make my hymn any less of a praise, though, and I do regularly praise the Lord in small victories, as well as the big stuff. As a "woman of a certain age," not wetting my pants is occasionally a major victory!

I'm glad that I can praise the Lord in all things, and I'm glad that I can do all things through him who gives me strength! 

Like knitting!

And knitting makes my heart joyful, which is good medicine.

Knitting has brought joy and so many fun friends into my life, and friends increase joy, too! 

This weekend I'm spending time with some friends near the lake. 

Some of us enjoy a nice drink with dinner...

Some of us have matching pajamas...

...and all of us have knitting! 

So, praise the Lord! for dry pants, and a Lakeside weekend with friends, patio donuts and knitting...among other things.

Lakeside Weekend

For those of you in the know, you know that I have a local knitting group that I love! I love them even more than my medium-sized pumpkin loves my front stoop...

For the past two years, our efforts to get together have often been thwarted by a worldwide pandemic, and nervousness surrounding Covid-19 and its variants. (sigh!)

This weekend, however, we are going to spend some time together at Lakeside, and I could not be happier about that! I am about as happy as a stack of knitted pumpkins! 

You may ask yourself, "How happy is that, exactly?" Well, I'll show you.

Very Happy!

Yes, very happy indeed! Happy enough, in fact, to motivate me to finish the Wonderful Wallaby I've been working on for the last few days...yay! I can't wait to show you a picture of it finished, but for now, here's where I was when I left...I hope I don't run out of yarn!

What will you work on this weekend? Whatever it is, I hope it makes you as happy as a stack of knitted pumpkins!

A Little R and R

Good day, Friends! Today I am enjoying friends and yarn and a little bit of the great outdoors at Lakeside. It is the spring knitting retreat, and what happens at Lakeside... 

There is much laughter, the love of good friends that I have known for over a decade, and life abundant. Oh, and sometimes there is fireball...!

I have brought yarn and knitting, which kept my hands busy all evening last night, 

...and this morning, there is Easter crochet in the quiet cool of the day.

The stress of life has melted away, and I am so thankful for friends, familiarity and fun for this April weekend. Oh, and I am looking forward to all the new memories we will make...like this one!

I hope that your weekend is good, that you are surrounded by people who fill you with joy and that you will have some time to Knit in Good Health!
