Sleeves and Sweets

Another week, another knit coming right along! The purple sweater I started at the beginning of the month is ready for sleeves...

In fact, sleeve one is over halfway done, but I don't have an updated pic yet. I've been too busy taking pictures of gummies made for the kiddos...

It's a simple, jello recipe I found online months ago but just recently tried. I've made a couple successful batches, and these red cars are pretty good!

The yellow gummy bears and dinos were good, but I used way too much cornstarch to make them less sticky. You just need a pinch...

Now that I've made a couple of good batches, I may look for some other recipes, too! But no funny business stuff...just treats for the kids.

Sooo, yes, still knitting and trying new, fun crafts. And yes, still loving my job and new friends! And yes, still having fun as I wrap up my 57th trip around the sun.

Walking with the boys before lunch today.
How about you? Have you tried anything new recently? I'd love to hear about it, if you have. 😀

Thanks for stopping by! Knit, and try new things, in Good Health!

Cousins and Grandkids and Funtimes: Oh, My!

There hasn't been much knitting this week, but I'm ok with that...and this is the reason:

All the kids have had some great cousin time, and we've had fun hanging out with them all together, too!

There's been playground time,

Dinners together,

Playtime

and even times to borrow handknit socks from Gramma, to help them slide smoothly down the stair-slide, without stopping!

In the middle of it all, I SAW DONNY OSMOND IN CONCERT last Saturday!

Jess and I went to Akron, and we had the best time!

So, yeah! Very little knitting, but SO MUCH FUN!!!

I hope you've had some fun with your family and friends this Summer!

It's Been a Week

Let me tell you, it's been a week! Last week was a week, and the week before it was a week as well. 2024 has been a LOT so far, and we are not even halfway to Christmas!

Sometimes, I feel as worn out as these shoes!
There have been highs...

With my friends at Woolapalooza 2024...so fun!
And lows...

Losing my father-in-law last Saturday was hard.
But so far, the highs are winning. Yay!

Boys, finding unattended construction equipment!
Through it all, the thing I keep telling myself to remember is that every minute counts. Every interaction, every birthday, every memory, and every little thing counts toward making this life better or worse.

Pop Pop's birthday, with trick candles!
My goal will continue to be making it better, wherever I can...or, at the very least, not making it worse.

You see, every moment helps to shape who we are becoming, and how we are helping others to become their best selves as well.

Bring the joy, when you can.
So, wherever you are, remember to be kind. Remember that you cannot know someone else's truth completely, and that's ok. Because, regardless of the situation, you can bring your best.

Of course I mean Pickleball!
Remember to also be kind to yourself. After all, you know all of YOUR truth like no one else can, so be gentle with that information. Let yourself feel your feelings and move on to the next right thing. Embrace the good of this life, like little kids on a playground!

The best kind of joy!
As far as the rest goes, just do your best.

Your best is all anyone can ask.

Newly acquired, Woolapalooza stash! Yay!

I've Got That Feeling

I've got a funny feeling. Not tummy funny, like when you order fast food from toddlers at the playground...

Not dizzy... I mean, there was a lot of spinning last night, when Pop Pop and I took the boys to a Jim Gill concert at one of our local libraries, but I think I'm over that today.

And there were a lot of spin-around

and up-and-down fun things at the playground after the concert...

But I didn't ride those, and we've all had a good night's sleep now...so what is this funny feeling?

My feet hurt a bit from walking around in the wrong shoes yesterday (oh! my achin' feet), so I have a feeling that they would enjoy another pair of stripey socks to slip on...

Especially since I finished the last pair of stripey socks on Wednesday. They have random butterfly stitches on them!

And I have a funny feeling that I'll be knitting more frogs...

...and possibly working a little hand-embroidery to repair a hole in one of my favorite pair of summer capris. (I'm not sure how that will go, so I'll let you know next week.)

Wait! I've got it! I've got that feeling that the annual Woolapalooza trip is coming up! Yes! That's it! Yay for that Woolapalooza feeling!

X marks the spot for Woolapalooza, Baby!

Anyone else in Blogland planning to attend the Great Lakes Fiber Show on Saturday? Message me, or look for me there, if you are. Perhaps we can have some fun together!

January Sweater

My January sweater is finished!

I still need to carve out time to put it on for proper pictures, but the knitting is finished! And I really love the shape, the drape and the texture of this one! That little "knot" stitch on the front is just lovely.

I'm already planning both a photo sesh and another one of these...in purple! But, for now, this Four Seasons Jumper will wait patiently, since I did not bring home my tripod.

In other news, this little guy stayed overnight with me and Pop Pop,

his brothers (and Mama) are visiting now, and I am doing my best to revive my sourdough starter, so this never happens again...lol!

Busy Saturdays seem to be the standard in the Pretty life! How is your weekend going?

Three Musketeers

I feel like this picture tells a story...

...and so it does. It's the story of three boys, growing up together so that they will always be the best of friends (and maybe finding some mischief, too!). Wanna guess who the ringleader will be?

If you guessed that the fearless, headstrong, third-born of the brood will be that brother, I would tell you that is a very solid guess! But who knows, really...

We have two of the three boys at our house this weekend, so I'm putting this post together  early. It will go live at the normal time, and I will hopefully be napping when it does, but I anticipate that I will not have time or energy to do much blogging on Saturday or Sunday!

On Monday morning, there will be copious cups of coffee to help Pop Pop and I recover from the fun! Then I will try to catch up on some knitting...

I hope you have found something to enjoy this weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

Now, go Knit in Good Health (and share with me what you're knitting in the comments!)!

Perplexed, but Not in Despair

Happy Saturday, friends! I've been working my needles harder than usual, and coming up with unwearable results, so lol! My granddaughter requested some very specific socks, and I am so excited to come up with something for her...in fact, I have already finished the first sock! It is stranded color-work, which means even the inside of the sock is mesmerizing!

But, and I knew this was happening as I kept knitting, it will never fit a human foot!

Too long, too skinny, too tight!

I could let this distress pull my knitting soul into the pits of despair, but I have chosen instead to use sock one as a learning experience. I will have to knit at least two more socks, but I have learned that I need larger needles...and I should start right into the colorwork at the toe. I've actually already started (see photos above and below), and it seems to be going well, so yay!

For what it's worth, I am pretty sure that I said the exact same thing about that first sock, but I was dead wrong. Murphy's Law abounds in stranded color-work. Well, it does, on my knitting needles anyway! Lol!

I promise you finished photos when I get there, and I am thinking of writing this pattern up (since I have already gone to the trouble of 10 charts!), but that's probably a little ways down the road. So, what can I give you for free today? Well, what about photos of fall at our favorite park...

And on the path, beyond the pond, in the apartment complex next door...

And boys with their brothers, and their builder robots, and Pop Pop, and the tire swing!

It has been another full-and-good week. I have recovered from the discouragement of sock one so completely that I have not only started sock two (of 3 now, lolz), I have also cast on a special request pair of baby booties for a friend of my daughter's, as this knitter is wont to do!

I know, this is just yarn. Isn't it pretty, tho?

I encourage you to pivot perplexed moments into learning lessons, rather than allowing them to drag you down to despair, because life is much more enjoyable with a positive attitude! Remember, if you have a choice between laughter and tears (and I know, sometimes there is no choice, but sometimes there is), seek the smiles!

Thanks for stopping by, and Knit in Good Health and smile often!
