Riot of Color!

Was it just last week that I was in Minnesota, at ZK2024? Just a mere 6 or 7 days ago that I was goofing off in person with my online friends and enhancing my stash, adding a riot of [additional] color to my life...?

Wow! But that was fun! And, as one does, I have already cast on something new. It, too, is a riot of color, but also a secret test knit. I can show you this much, tho...because that color is all me!

The project is designed for three colors, and the original uses one variegated and two solids...but going through my stash, including a newly acquired skein from Fangirl Fibers from my goody bag, I've decided on three variegated skeins of varying color values...in light, medium and dark varieties!

So far, as you can see above, it's knitting up in a very playful way! I am really enjoying it, but won't be able to show it off fully until the pattern releases early in August (I believe). But, there are certainly other things I can show off today...like a good look at those "day-of-the-week-panties" stitch markers I purchased at a yarn truck...

...and the moment I realized that I currently own a bucket-bag sized pile of mini-skeins that I have been [apparently] collecting for some time...minis are so very Pretty!

Of course there is the entire stash enhancement that came home from MN with me...

...including a mini set to represent Daisy Jones & the Six (wasn't that a great book and show?!?)...

...and the Show Stopper that will likely go with it, in some iteration of a cardigan or pullover (Leading Men never cease to amaze me!)...

Un Besito Fiber
offered a tonal coral that will pair nicely with several of the "single ladies" skeins in my current stash, though there are tough decisions to be made there...

Frog was so tired when we got home that he requested his slippers, and he has not taken them off since he put them on!

No dancing, no stash diving, no anything but lounging in his "day jammies" and slippers. Today is actually a great day for that. It's been a rainy one, which the flowers love. Rainy days are also good for knitting, so you won't hear me complaining either!

As a bonus, we are planning on a visit soon from this riotous crowd soon,

so stay tuned! There will be more fun tales to be told, and new knits are very likely on our horizon in the Pretty house! More frogs, anyone? Or should we move onto something else?

The frogs can be a little judge-y...
With the 4th of July coming up here, in the States, I hope that you have some down time and fun planned with your family. Even if you are not celebrating a national holiday, I hope that your life is full of color and people that you love.

Thanks for stopping by, and Knit in Good Health!
Maybe I'll knit a bumble bee?

I didn't wear my PJs to the pajama party,

and I did not do the 5K run/walk in the rain,

but I did get to teach a crochet class and help with Bingo, and I had such fun with everyone!

Today is Yarn Acquisition Day (aka - the Market!), so I'll be shopping when this post goes live. I promise to share my new stash soon!

But first, coffee!
Wherever you are, I hope you're having a fabulous funtime, too! Thanks for stopping by, and both Frog and I hope that you will

According to Plan?

Do you ever feel like nothing is going according to your plans? As a recovering "type-A" personality, I often feel like everything around me is spinning out of  control. Like I'm not in charge of anything, and I really don't enjoy that feeling.

Of course I know better. Of course I know that I am not in control of the universe (nor should I be, that's God's job). Of course I know that "Karma" is not out to get me, but sometimes life feels that way.

For example, this pile of knitting in my lap today...

Just yesterday, it was a finished, washed and blocked sweater...

But it was wayyyyy too cropped for an overweight, 56-year-old gramma to wear out of the house! (Trust me. You do NOT want photo-evidence of that!) So, I've ripped out the hem to add a couple of inches, and I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the weekend, and I'm a little sad that I can't wear it yet.

Will the re-finishing go according to my plan? Maybe, maybe not. 🤷‍♀️ But I made two-toned jello this morning, and that's something that did go according to plan! So, yay! Go, me!

I hope things are going according to plan for you this week. If not, stop what you're doing for awhile and try something else. We all need a small, certain victory from time to time, especially when the big stuff doesn't go the way we expect it to.

This is not a photo of something amazing,
but it's a pretty good pic. Small victory.

What Are You Celebrating?

It's your weekly check-in from Pretty! How's everybody doing out there? We are hangin' out,  hangin' in and hangin' on around here! As part of our coping with the general chaos, treats were purchased from the ice cream truck just yesterday...

As part of my personal coping, I'm having a Summer Fling (yarn available on pre-order now!) with a Springline Tee in Destination Yarn, and it's coming right along...

I'm also spending time checking out what my friends are up to on social media, so I hope you're all posting your good times!

Are you climbing trees with your Pop Pop?
Knitting on your patio with friends?
As I peruse social media, I'm sad to see that there is so little regard for kindness, especially online. For example, I saw this pic posted in a couple places, and I was a little dismayed to discover how sad it made me. Well, the photo didn't make me sad, but some of the hate-filled comments below it certainly did (and I will not repost any of that)...

While I have some issues with the organization that created this collection of images and words, I've always loved a rainbow, and rainbows generally signify positive things to people all along the spectrum...but lately, I've seen the rainbow spurning hate.

Let me be clear: By blogging this pic, I am neither declaring full agreement with all of the words added by gotquestions.org, nor hate for any individual or group. Regardless of your personal stance on God, religion, relationships or reality, rainbows can signify something beautiful. At the very least, a rainbow is a thing of beauty to witness, marvel at and celebrate!

Despite our differences, any rainbow can signify beauty, sacred promises, new beginnings and unconditional love. Can we all agree on that? I hope so!

Personally, I believe that the rainbow is a reminder of the promise made to Noah, by God...a promise that God will never destroy all of His creation through a similar flood in the future. This is a promise of God's love for all of creation, without exception. He even loves mosquitos! So, if God can love all of creation, and if I profess to love God, then the least I can possibly do is to practice kindness.

I can be kind in my words (written, spoken and implied), even when I disagree. I can be kind in my actions, and I can be kind in my thoughts. Am I gonna mess up sometimes? I will, but that won't stop me from trying. I'll keep trying, and I hope you will, too.

Hey! I think I see a rainbow! Yay!

I love all the things (and people) on my fridge!
