Three Musketeers

I feel like this picture tells a story...

...and so it does. It's the story of three boys, growing up together so that they will always be the best of friends (and maybe finding some mischief, too!). Wanna guess who the ringleader will be?

If you guessed that the fearless, headstrong, third-born of the brood will be that brother, I would tell you that is a very solid guess! But who knows, really...

We have two of the three boys at our house this weekend, so I'm putting this post together  early. It will go live at the normal time, and I will hopefully be napping when it does, but I anticipate that I will not have time or energy to do much blogging on Saturday or Sunday!

On Monday morning, there will be copious cups of coffee to help Pop Pop and I recover from the fun! Then I will try to catch up on some knitting...

I hope you have found something to enjoy this weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

Now, go Knit in Good Health (and share with me what you're knitting in the comments!)!

A Hand-y Post

As I was looking down at my knitting this morning, I noticed my hands.

Oh, they're nothing special...no fancy manicure, and I'm a chronic nail-biter, so I'm easily embarrassed by my hands. So, when asked to take photos of a project I'm test knitting "on actual hands," I felt personally challenged. I started with this:

These are, of course, not "actual" hands,  but Flat-Stanley-style hands I keep so my actual hands don't show up in photos. But then I got to thinking 🤔,  "Hey! I have friends with hands!"

And so I do! Though my friends were slightly dismayed when I asked them to don the mitts and display a silly mug, they did eventually agree...so yay!

As I looked over the resulting photos from the 2023 hand sessions, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful these hands are.

Their beauty is not the result of fancy polish or finger exercises...it comes from living and loving and learning, and their beauty grows as they keep going.

Thank you, ladies, for letting me get silly and take pictures of you and your hands. And thanks for all the ways your hands have helped me through the years.

Thanks also to Shana, who has helped me to see the beauty in my own hands. Maybe I won't balk so much next time! (By the way, if you like these gloves, Shana has a pattern coming out soon...seems like she always has another great pattern coming out! Check out Shanalines Designs to see all her designs and patterns!)

Super Powered Knitting

If you're back to see if I've uploaded the Taylor Swift Sock Pattern, I am happy to report that I have. You can find it here, and it is FREE for all!

If you're here to see what else is going on, I'll tell you: this has been a heavy week for me. All in our family are well, but I mourn for a family that cannot say the same. Since it is not my story to tell, that's all I will say here, except to encourage you to go hug your kids. If you don't have kids of your own, maybe you have a niece or a nephew who would appease you, but please don't go around hugging kids you don't know. That will get you in trouble. ;)

Even in a heavy week, God is good. To balance the heavy, I have used my super power of Knitting to work on some bright-and-colorful things, and I think they came out pretty super!

There will be more details later, but if you think these are capes...well, you would be correct! The pattern is Supercape by Shanalines_design, go check it out! I think a lot of her designs are pretty stripin' cool.

That's all for now. Off I go to hug my grandkids, and my adult daughter (if she will tolerate it). I hope that all is well in your world. If it is not, I'd be glad to pray for you. All you've got to do is ask.

Uncharted

The Swiftie socks are done, and I have traded them for some far less complicated, uncharted knitting!

These lines are not blurred, and my charts are all finished. Yay!

Hmmm, our coffee table used to be empty...but somewhere between the crocheted pony-bead lizard and super capes, I seem to have lost control. Even the pig looks a little judge-y in that last shot! But, after all that charting (starting with pen and graph paper, ending in computer spreadsheets and docs with all the words) I am glad to be moving ahead to simple stripes and squish in my knitting.

The pattern is not "out there" yet, but I hope to get everything uploaded this week. It will look a little like this when it is available...watch Ravelry if you're interested.

And if you're not interested...here's a fun, new book I bought this week!

A children's book by knitting designer Anna Hrachovec, this one is every bit as fun as the cover suggests! Even if you don't knit, the photography and text are super fun, and most everyone knows at least one kid who likes fun. Right? (You can find it HERE, and also on Amazon...)

There, I've finished socks, bought books and started stripes. Drop me a comment and let me know what you're up to this weekend!

Oh! And New Glasses! Yay!
