I'll Get Right to the Point

Cedar Point, in Sandusky, that is...and this has been a good week! It started with a trip to "The Point" (aka roller coaste heaven) with my girl for Mother's Day,

That lovely, new coaster was not ready for business, but I was! Fountain drink at 10am? Coaster after that? Yes, please!

Then there was a lovely gift from my son...lol! This blanket is great AND hilarious!

Even a gift from the Hubby (aka "Dad," when our daughter does the wrapping, and our grandson presents the gift)!

On top of a great start to the week on Sunday, I also finished the fish for my [fish]bowl at work on Monday morning,

and at Thursday knitting, I helped kitchener this glorious heap of golden cables!

"What's in the background?," you ask... Why, that's a nearly finished pair of socks with little dots that look a bit like sheep...

and by Friday night, they were finished

and on my feet!

All of that, while plugging along toward my first Summer Vacation in a very long time, means that I have been super-busy and loving it!

I wonder when I'll get to The Point again? I hope it's soon! Anyone wanna come with? 😁

Goin' Fishin' in my Brain

Fishin'? Well, this is what I am knitting now:

Why fish? There are two reasons:
1. I need to fill my decorative bowl at work with something, now that Easter is over (originally, I thought I would knit a sky full of stars with attitude, but I fizzled after about five of these cuties...)

and 2. June is soon! (My ZK2025 shirt came this week, yay!)

Knitting tiny things is one of the Knitalong Challenges for the upcoming event, and I think I may make a couple dozen fish to enter...ha! Having the Zombie Knitpocolypse so close (June 19-21) means that I will be going slightly out of my mind with enthusiastic anticipation of a fun, yarny weekend with friends, and sometimes losing concentration for the regular things...lol!

You know what happens when I lose concentration? Well, my mind wanders a bit.

What does it wander to? Many times it's yarn, for sure, but sometimes it just wanders. Sometimes, when I'm sitting in a room that wishes not to be disclosed, my brain goes fishin' (so to speak) and I see this:

Don't see it? What about now?

Still no? You don't see the little doggie?

Pardon my drawing. This is a skill I have not unlocked.
Wait. That's crazy, you say? Even crazier, what if I also see a larger dog?

The two dogs actually share a nose, if you can believe it...

I'll never NOT see them again, so now I have a favorite bathroom stall at work, and that's what my mind went fishin' for this week...bwaaahahahahahaha!

Yes, you're right. That's a little weird...but it's fairly "on-brand" for Pretty. My friends know this about me, and they still hang out with me to knit. Of course, some of my friends' cats are occasionally judgmental...
Why is he looking at me like that? I just finished a sock!
I'm supposed to be dancing!!!
but cats lick their own...ummmm...feet...sooooo, who are they to judge, really? Eventually, I think he stopped judging. He even offered his belly for a good rub... Wait. I think this is a trap...😜

I hope you are finding joy and judgement-free zones this weekend. For those of you who are moms, and those of you who have moms, I hope Sunday is a good day. And if you are struggling with trauma that will make Sunday difficult, I hope you find moments of peace and even joy, despite those difficult emotions. In any case, I'm glad to see you here, so leave me a little comment about something you're looking forward to!

Happy Things

Did you ever wear a sweater all day long, then find a hole when you got home?

Yeah, that happened last weekend. It was very sad, and I know that I can fix it, but my sweater is currently in timeout until I can face the repair process. In the meantime, rather than dwelling on this tragedy, I've moved to happy things! Like another pair of stripey socks,

three pair of double-knit mittens,

a colorwork hat,

and a tiny hamster, all knitted in the best of spirits!

I've also started my second pair of 2025 socks, and my new job is still going great!

Yes, this year has started strong, and I've had more happy things than sad! Yesterday, I even started planning my cubicle-scape. Ive cleaned out sone desk drawers, and I've got loose plans roaming around my brain for some knitted decor...not trying to reign them in at all...lol! 🤣

Yes, I have plenty of ideas to keep my needles clicking and my whole self smiling! I hope you have things around you that make you smile, too!

No Secret Knitting

For the first time in a long time, there has been no secret knitting for Christmas. There was knitting for Christmas, to be sure, but it wasn't a secret. This knitter needed input for cardigans and pullovers, requested by granddaughters who wanted something just so. The hoodie is so far behind schedule, that it has become a birthday gift! (It will also be late for this deadline, but I have sent pics to the nearly-nine-year-old, and she knows how close it is!) Tonight, I am down to the "duck details" on this Psyduck hoodie...wish me luck!

Oh!, and the after-Christmas, rainbow Yoshi is well underway...

The other thing I thought I might tackle in the new year is a closet declutter. There was a group to join on FB, and I joined the parade straightaway, as though I were one of the little people at our grandsons' house...

It sounded like a really good idea, until I got in there and realized that I had just done this last February!

So, the closet looks pretty good. My apologies. Lol.

The yarn room, could use some work, but I'm not ready for that...still creating the collection in there! Instead of the yarn, we tackled the taking down of all things Christmas over the long weekend. Well, most things Christmas...the gnomes

and my light-up snowman still stand, but the tree is gone, and we have moved the furniture around a bit. I like it!

But, as with any rearrangement, there are things you find that just aren't necessary anymore. Like this.

This is the bouquet from our wedding. It has survived multiple moves, vicious vacuums, and curious cats through the years...and I could hold onto it for the next 13 years, until our golden anniversary...or I could save myself from my pack-rat tendencies and toss it this year. I think I'll go for the latter. It's dusty, the ribbons are yellowed, and some of the flowers are just...gone. It may be time.

As sad as it can be to let go of things, the memories these flowers invoke are still strong. Two crazy kids, who barely knew what life was about, diving into the weird adventure that marriage is some 37 years ago. It's been a wild ride...sometimes better, sometimes worse, most times unpredictable...but we are still buckled in, so yay!

So, Happy New Year to you and yours! As you can see, I don't have many resolutions, I wonder if you have? Yes or no, take a moment to say hello in the comments, if you like!

And watch football with your Pop Pop, if you can.

Super Powered Knitting

If you're back to see if I've uploaded the Taylor Swift Sock Pattern, I am happy to report that I have. You can find it here, and it is FREE for all!

If you're here to see what else is going on, I'll tell you: this has been a heavy week for me. All in our family are well, but I mourn for a family that cannot say the same. Since it is not my story to tell, that's all I will say here, except to encourage you to go hug your kids. If you don't have kids of your own, maybe you have a niece or a nephew who would appease you, but please don't go around hugging kids you don't know. That will get you in trouble. ;)

Even in a heavy week, God is good. To balance the heavy, I have used my super power of Knitting to work on some bright-and-colorful things, and I think they came out pretty super!

There will be more details later, but if you think these are capes...well, you would be correct! The pattern is Supercape by Shanalines_design, go check it out! I think a lot of her designs are pretty stripin' cool.

That's all for now. Off I go to hug my grandkids, and my adult daughter (if she will tolerate it). I hope that all is well in your world. If it is not, I'd be glad to pray for you. All you've got to do is ask.
