[Mostly] Speechless Saturday

I am taking the weekend off of work and all things think-y, but thought I'd take just a moment to check in. Here are four photos that have made me so happy this week:

Winner! Winner! Gnoblin Dinner!

Always enter the contest, right Mary?!? Even if you're the only one...lol!

Congratulations to Mary, who has gnamed the gnew gnome, Gnoblin!!! Thanks for playing and winning the pretty knitty contest!

(And the crowd goes wild!)

(Or...crickets...it makes no difference to Mary, I'm sure. I know I saw some row counters around here somewhere..."Birds of Emotion" I think they were. Wait, are you a knitting Mary? Shoot me an email, friend, and we will get you all set up!)

Anyhoo, I will be putting together a little package for Mary, and perhaps I will leave the contests to the bloggers who have time to promote contests...lol!

Since I finished knitting Gnoblin, I  have had much on my mind. PB Sandwiches for one thing...

I finished this beauty during virtual knit night on Wednesday, then made a plan to cast on matching mitts, as you do! I'm sure I'll have photos soon, but in the meantime, here's another shot of the hat:

I think I love it! Know what else I love?

Well, yes. I DO love coffee! I also love my little Bubbo, his mommy and upping my selfie game with them.

I'm pretty sure we exasperated the little guy while we played with the camera on my new phone instead of watching neow-neow videos...so, here you go...

(One minute, nine seconds, please don't feel obligated. It is just a cat video, seriously!)

Because we all love a good cat video, right?

Right. And more gratuitous pics of my grandson!

And now that fall is in the air, and the cats are in the laps, I think I will take this opportunity to turn on the oven and bake my first apple crisp of the season! We went to pick apples just this morning, and my mouth is already watering. If you're in the neighborhood, stop on in for  a taste...we even have vanilla ice cream to go on top when it comes out of the oven...I just know I am going to burn my tongue, and I can't wait!

Are you looking forward to anything this weekend? Drop a comment and let me know what gets you excited about autumn!

Empty Corners...and a winner...

This week, we made our first trip to Ikea.

What? Oh, yes. There is a winner. Thanks for reminding me!

Anyway, we went to Ikea to do some "research" on sofas and space-saving solutions for our small home. So, we drove a couple hours and sat on more than our share of sofas, checked the storage in a couple of sofa beds, and kicked the tires...err, chairs...on a couple of dining sets. It was fun, and we even bought a new table and chairs for that tiny kitchen! It'll look like this, once we put it together!

What's that? Oh...I haven't told the winner yet? That's funny...because I know I set up the drawing...

But then I got distracted with a little knitting...just a little bit, though. Hand still hurts...but I go to the doc later this morning to find out how it's healing!

Once I put the yarn down, I couldn't help but let my mind wander back to that empty place in the kitchen...

But, since the table isn't put together yet, I distracted myself again by DRAWING A WINNER! And the winner is (drumroll please)...

Congratulations, MIkki522!!! Contact me with your mailing address, and I'll get your prize shipped out ASAP! Yayyy for Mikki522!

Now, onto the rest of the day! A winner is such a good way to start my Wednesday! Maybe I'll follow up by filling in that empty kitchen corner with a new table and chairs!

What are you looking forward to this week?

Wednesday is for Winners!!!

Because Wednesday is for winners, I will not leave you hanging! The winner, chosen by the random number generator, is Julie of the Twisted Strands blog! Congratulations, Julie! If you have not already received an email from me, please email me at PrettyKnittyJewelry [at] yahoo [dot] com as soon as you see this notice for instructions to receive your free counter from the shop! Or, if you would rather, I can send you a surprise prize! I can't wait to hear from you!!!

Thank you to everyone who entered, and best of luck next time. By the way, look for some major sales and updates in the Etsy store this fall. . .I hope to be clearing out and re-stocking the virtual shelves as soon as all the wedding madness is over!

You know who else has been a winner these days? Why Pretty is a winner, of course! She counts herself a winner for being able to finish a sweater (really a tank, but still. . .it is FINISHED!!!) - Yay!!!Aaaand, Pretty has also started some Christmas socks! After all, who doesn't like a little Christmas in July?My knitting pictures and photo sessions have been a little rushed this week, so the colors are not perfect, and I don't even think the tank is finished in that photo (it IS finished, but the color of the yarn shows so much better in this pic than in the one finished pic I managed to snap). . .that is NOT winning. . .but Charlie Sheen isn't here, so I suppose it's ok. :)

But then, even the knitting has been a little rushed and scarce this week. Grampa and I have more exciting things happening in our Pretty Knitty lives lately. It's bathtime for the Peanut, and we are just loving every minute of her visit! How could you not love clean baby smells and smiles?!?So that's where we are, and that's where we'll be for the next couple weeks. Still, in any spare moment, I am sure that I will be knitting!

Congratulations again to Julie, and thanks to you all for stopping by! I hope that you will all find some time this week to Knit in Good Health!

Oh, what is the letter I love?

Oh what is the letter I love?
What sound am I extra fond of?
It's not any trouble, you know, it's a double-U,
when you hear, "Wuh-Wuh-Wuh-Wuh!"

Yes, today I love the letter "W"! "Why?," you may ask? Well, for starters, the letter W is the first letter in the word "Word," and we all know I love words! It's also the first letter in the word "Wednesday," and today is Wednesday! As a bonus, W is the first letter in the word, "WINNER!," and I have a WINNER to announce today, for sure!

Thank you all for entering that last contest a couple weeks ago. . .it was a good one! The random number generator picked innerbanks as my WINNER, and I dashed her off a quick message on Ravelry to let her know, so it's time to let the cat out of the bag here as well! Congratulations, innerbanks!

For those of you who know her, online or in person, you know that innerbanks is a big-time crocheter. . .so I have picked out a counter for her prize! A couple of sheep that want to help her keep track of her rows as she works on those big (and little) projects. Congratulations again, innerbanks! Here come the sheep, to keep you company as you create with crochet!

As for the rest of my pretty knitty day, I think I am gonna take it easy. I have taken a "mental health day" from the office job, and this is what i would like to see as my "outlook" for most of this Wonderful Wednesday!:
There will be yarn in the picture, but I have not yet decided whether to work on some WIPS or cast on that wedding shawl. . .but that decision is a challenge that I am sure I can handle today!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope that you will guard your mental health, too! Maybe come play a little hooky with me? Oh, and Knit in Good Health!
The previous blog entry was brought to you by the letter W, and the number 8, and my slippers.

We have a weiner!!!!!

Well, I don't have a weiner. . .I am a girl. But I digress.

I DO have a WINNER to announce!

I have used an online, random number generator, to generate the winner of the Merry Christmas in July contest.

And, the winner of the mystery prize is. . .

. . .drum roll, please. . .

Cricket54! . . .of the Cricket Knits a Bit blog!

Cricket, if you do not receive an email from me in about 10 seconds, email me at PrettyKnittyJewelry [at] yahoo [dot] com! And CONGRATULATIONS! (I like the Andy Griffith Show, too!)

I will not post pictures of the mystery prizes until I hear that Cricket has received her presents. . .so, off I go to prepare a package for tomorrow's mail! Yay!

Thanks, everyone, for playing along! Now, go Knit in Good Health!

Our Place in the Sun. . .

I love that the cats always find their place in the sun!
I love it more when their place is on the floor!
Really, what is better on a sunny day than basking in the glow of the sunbeams? Whether you do that outside in the summer or inside on a crisp day in early spring, ya just gotta love the sun!

Know what else I love? . . .
That's right! Winning contests! Don't forget to enter the Pretty Knitty Jewelry contest if you have not already entered! All the details can be found at this link!

I entered a contest this month with WonderMike of the Fiber Beat podcast, and look what I got in the mail today:
It's Mmmmmmmalabrigo (softer than I could have imagined) Rasta, a super bulky, super squishy, super purple yarn! Super YAY!!! Back off, Michelle!. . .MY Yarn! ;p Use one of those links to check out Mike and his podcast. . .he's a funny guy, and he also does some video supplements that are quite informative! Thanks, WonderMike! I already have a scarf project in mind for this yarn. . .I cannot wait!

And, because I promised that I would blog about him today. . .DA, da da Daaaaa! Say hello to my little friend!
He and his mom were manning the face-painting table at the Easter Egg Hunt today at church, and the Hubster and I stopped in to take a look around. It was a great time, with the Easter Bunny (who is a bit camera shy) and games and music and many happy families! I am glad I stopped in, and glad I got to see the painters, because they all grow up so fast. . .I had absolutely no idea this kid could grow a moustache already! Yikes! :o)

In Knitting Knews, my Thursday group said that I would probably finish the April socks by the end of the week. . .I said, "No, I won't. It's not like I am a super, speed-knitter or anything!" But, apparently I am. And here they are:
These are the Catnip Socks (in Lion Brand Sock Ease, Rock Candy colorway) I pulled from the sock-a-month kits I had prepared for 2010. So that means that I have now finished 4 pairs, and these were supposed to last me into April! I could get out another kit, or I could start a new and different project. . .

New and different. . .I like that. So, here are my "That-a-Way" fingerless gloves! Started them this morning in leftover Araucania Ranco Multy yarn (purchased a couple summers ago in North Carolina, I think).
The pattern uses an arrow lace from some other pattern, and the charts and lace directions all mention the use of beads. Beads are not, however in the list of materials. According to the bead placement as I read the chart, I think the lace pattern assumes that beads are placed with a crochet hook, but I strung them all on, and I am placing them as I knit. That means that I place beads on the row after the pattern tells me to, but so far, so good! I am using tiny, blue, glass beads, and I think they will stand out just enough!

And now, one more gratuitous shot of the cats, both of them this time, on the dining room table:
Thanks for all the comments last week on ways to solve the problem of cat-butt where I eat. I guess I will have to break down and take a trip to the pet store for something that works. . .it does not appear that the spray-bottle of water is much of a deterrent. sigh!
