Happy Thanksgiving!

Yesterday was bread and cookies day...which means that today is certainly a holiday!

The gingerbread is done and decorated. (The recipe is right here, in Pretty Good Recipes!)

This one is my favorite!

The rolls are lightly browned, and oh so buttery!

The turkey and I had our date this morning, and this ugly bird is now stuffed to the gills, dripping with melted butter and taking his (her?) sauna...

My tree is up, even though it is another month until Christmas, but there are no ornaments yet...

Which is totally where those cookies come in!

I am looking forward to a lovely dinner with family, and perhaps some tree-decorating afterwards! I am also looking forward to using my dishwasher later, rather than washing dishes for three days...hooray! (This is my first holiday meal with a dishwasher...ever. Seriously.)

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends and readers! If you are outside the U.S., Christmas-adjacent is still a great place to be thankful, sooo tell me: What are you thankful for?

I am thankful for my faith, my family, my friends, my home and (of course) my dishwasher! (I am also pre-thankful for the food-coma I will surely be in later!)

By the way, if I am still in that food coma, I may skip blogging on Saturday, but I'll be back next week for sure!

Thanks for stopping by, and Knit (and EAT!) in Good Health!

Last Saturday

As I look back through the blog, reflecting a bit on the past year, I notice that I usually blog last Saturday (or last week) a LOT! Today is no exception, because there was another party last Saturday! Our big boy turned 3 a few days ago, and the big celebration was so much fun! From cake (c'mon! it's a 20 second video, full of joy! you have 20 seconds!)

to presents (he loved the Spiderman blanket, but scrunched up his little face to ask, "Where his head, Gramma?" I guess I'll be knitting a head and arms to add, just like on the little lovey!)

to monster trucks from faraway cousins

it was a great day! By the way, for his real birthday (just a few days after the party) I had to make a little cake

and some cupcakes.

I just couldn't help myself! You know what else I couldn't keep myself from doing (or asking Sweetie to do for me)

Yep, tree is up! Not decorated, easing into all the everything, but thanks to Sweetie, it is up and poised for decorations! My favorite is looking at the lights with my coffee each morning. To be honest, that's good enough for me most days, but I do have a plan for daylight decorations as well. <wink!>

And I am still knitting (even beyond the requested Spidey head)

This is a test knit for a friend, and it is coming right along. I am enjoying the knitting and the resulting fabric as it all comes together, and I can't wait to wear it!

But first, Thanksgiving is right around the corner here in the US, and I am getting ready!

To be honest, I wasn't sure a turkey would fit into this refrigerator for thawing, but I have photo evidence now that it does, and I am excited to be hosting all of our turkeys here next Thursday!

Not sure what the week holds for all of you, but I am thankful that you stopped by today. I hope your day is a good one, and that you find time to Knit in Good Health!

And then there was one.

Cats come in pairs, or they should. Most everyone who has cats knows that they are better in pairs. That's why we got a new kitten in 2006, just after putting our old Stripe down. We wanted Patches to have a friend.
Born July 4th to a neighbor cat, we named her Chloe.
Patches did not agree with our decision, and she died a few months later. And then there was one. Well, we still had the beagle, but just the one cat...

After a few years, and after the beagle crossed the Rainbow Bridge, we got Chloe a friend. Zoe and Chloe have been pretty tight ever since...

but Chloe generally took the lead in welcoming our grandchildren and other visitors.

Of course, they both enjoyed watching birds together,

and just hanging out. These are the bestest of feline besties.

But this week, the friendship ended, and we said goodbye to our silly,

yarn-loving,

aggressively affectionate,

adorable Chloe.

It was very sad for us all, but it was time. While I have no movie guarantees that cats go to heaven, I know that God has promised there are no tears there, so I am sure she will run to greet me if I need her when I arrive.

For those of you who had the chance to know Chloe, thank you for loving her.

Now, if you have a cat or two in your home, I know what Chloe and Zoe would tell you right now. Stop looking at your phone, and

Thanks for stopping by, friends. Treasure your loved ones, be they furry, feathered or of the human variety, and Knit in Good Health!

A Million Mittens!

Well, not a million, exactly...more like 24! Here, take a look...

24 mittens are one of the ways I have begun unlocking Christmas around here.

I mean, don't get me wrong...I know it isn't even Thanksgiving yet (19 days for those who may be counting!) but I have started to feel festive, and so has my staircase! Of course, these will not live on my staircase...very soon, I will box them up for my grandsons, and send them to live there for seasons to come! Even though they aren't mine, I do love looking at them...

Another fun thing about this time of year is the cooler weather which gives me lots of opportunities to knit. Since Hallmark Christmas movies have started, and since Sweetie is enjoying a late-season round of golf, today is the perfect day to get my tools together and cast on something fun and new!

I finished a birthday blanket (shhh! don't tell the birthday boy if you see him before next Saturday!)

So today is the day for mittens and hats, just for fun! When I finish those, a test knit wrap is project adjacent...squeee!

So, as you can see, it's clearly time for me to sign off and get stitching! What are your plans for this sunny Saturday? (Is it sunny where you are? If not, I'm sure you could knit something to fill your indoor time!)
