Less is More?

I generally struggle with blog titles, and today is no exception, but this weekend, I have a little less of the boys and their knitting requests, 

and a little more of the girls, and their fun crafts! 

So, less is more...kinda. ;) I'm sure I'll have more photos by the end of the weekend...but for now, I'm just taking it all in. 

She has a new sewing machine (for kids), and I'm learning that she just needs a regular sewing machine. In the meantime, she's learning how to lay out squares to design her own quilt.

This gives me all the feels, because

1. The fabric comes from the stash of a dearly departed friend from fairly far away, and 

2. My granddaughters take after me, with the crafting gene!

They both like to craft,  and after a little trip to the craft store,  we bonded over Taylor Swift music and beads last night...but my phone was dying (and on the other side of the room to charge), so no photos. And since they craft, there are fewer requests now that they're not so small anymore. 

It is fantastic to watch them grow and see their personalities bloom vigorously! But soon the girls will move a little farther away, so this is a last hurrah of sorts in this location. There will be visits both ways, to be sure, and more crafts, in our future...but today I drink in these moments to cherish. 

I hope you are also enjoying time with the ones you love when you can, and I'm glad to see you here. There is no comparison to loving companionship, and no better use of your time than loving your loved ones!

Baby hat for road-trip knitting!

Autmn Days

I'm finally starting to settle into the Autumn feel of things in my neck of the woods. So are Grampa and Peanut, seen here in a local park:That guy I love. . .he loves to be outside. He loves to be moving around. He loves to be with Peanut! (And she loves him, and being outside, and moving around, too!) Me? Notsomuch. I love knitting and crafts of all kinds. I need Grampa and Peanut in my life, to remind me to occasionally get my butt off the sofa, if I have any hope of maintaining my recent weight loss. I need to maintain (and continue) that weight loss if I have any hope of fitting into this new sweater for longer than a nano-second!It still needs buttons, but they are purchased and their positions carefully marked, while the sweater awaits a soak in wool-wash to soften it up a bit and block out that beautiful patterning. I absolutely love this new sweater, and I can't wait to wear it!...but I will not wear it when I am working with polymer clay. . .like when I made the bees! By the way, in case you were wondering, here's what I did with the bees and their hives:It's a special order (three counters and three sets of stitch markers), and I shipped it off to the UK yesterday. I love that Pretty Knitty Jewelry has gone international! I do not love that shipping overseas doesn't come with inexpensive shipping confirmation, so I always worry until I hear from the recipient that their items have arrived. . .while I wait and worry, I craft. You know about the knitting, and you also know about the clay. I know that I've talked about sewing as well, and here is my next sewing project:Shopping Cart Covers for Peanut, so that her mommy doesn't have to worry about the baby sucking on the cart when the two are shopping! Bonus! - they also cover restaurant high-chairs. :o) For a very active, and very social Peanut, these are going to come in very handy! But for today, she doesn't want to go shopping or out to eat. Today, Peanut wants to be outside, in the fresh-and-cool fall breezes!So that's where she is! Look at that happy baby! Look at those fall colors! Swing, Peanut! Higher! Yayyyy!

Flowers, Fabrics and Favorites

The phone rang last weekend, but I was on a walk. Even though I have a cell-phone, a really incredible cell phone even, I decided not to answer. Maybe it's the old-fashioned in me. . .Maybe I was enjoying Sweetie's company so much that I couldn't bear to interrupt. . .Maybe I did not want the caller to know how out of breath I was after that last hill. . .whatever the case, I did not answer when it rang.

Eventually, though, I did listen to the voicemail, and I did my best to give the Mother-of-the-Groom a call back (at a time when both our schedules allowed some relaxed and fun conversation), and I was glad that I did. I guess with Peanut visiting, and jury duty looming, I had not realized how fast the time was hurtling forward to Snake and Dollface's BIG DAY!!!

"How is the planning for the shower coming?," she wanted to know. . .which is a fair question, especially when that event is less than a month away! So, we talked, and I assured her that I have everything under control (as though I was a teenager, pacifying my parents about final exams. . ."Don't worry moms and pops, I got it under control!")

Truth is, it was still on my back burner. The flames were not out, but I had not yet felt the urgency to actually plunge headfirst into the planning. I am so glad that Snake's mom called me and re-lit that fire! Now, I think I've got it under control. . .or at least more under control than last week!

That picture up there, that's gonna become centerpieces for the shower, and I think I have a handle on the favors, too. And the fabric down here:
Well, those have to do with the wedding. . .still a bit of a surprise, but I promise to show you when it's a finished project!

I don't know how much knitting will be done over these next couple of months, but I promise to share all of the creativity that goes into this wedding, yarn-related or not! If you're looking for the wool. . .I apologize, and I hope that you can hang in there for a little while. . .it will be back. After all, don't babies come after weddings? And we are having a wedding this summer!!!
