Big...ummm...Words?

I...like...big...WORDS, and I cannot LIE--
You other bloggers can't de-NY;
When the page starts off with itty-bitty words,
It dissapoints both you and I...

<insert record scratch here>

WaitWaitWait...I'm pretty sure thats not how the song goes. I'm also pretty sure I'm not alone in my love for words! I Wordle and Quordle and Octordle just about every day, and the hubs and I work the Spelling Bee together for fun...so it shouldn't surprise anyone that some of my favorite knits have involved the building blocks of words...letters!

There's the knitted alphabet, which lives in my toy bin these days. With just one of every letter, its use is a little limited...although this word uses 15, unique, non-repeated letters (it even has its own blog post)...

Then two sets of alphabet blocks for grandchildren, with soft, foam cores that are light and squishy.

My daughter tells me that the middle boy enjoys it when she bounces these off the hiss forehead, and I've seen it...she's  right, he does!

But I prefer to line them up and help the kids learn sounds and sight words.

However we play with them, knitted alphabet blocks are just plain fun (for English nerds anyway!). This new set has a firmer foundation, with a different core block...still super light, but not squishy (details on my project page)...

I've modified the design a bit, unified the color palette, and I am so close to finishing...with 24 blocks already completed!

26 blocks, 6 sides each, 156 possible letters to work with, and at least 4 of each letter! So many possibilities! How can a knitter follow that?

Well, since you asked, maybe we'll do some numbers too! Reading AND math...I almost can't contain the excitement...lol!

What are you knitting for fun these days? Drop a hint and let me know...I could use some ideas for my next knit!

Thanks for stopping by, and

Full Hands, Full Heart

I have said that my hands are often full of knitting, and if youve been around the blog for any time at all, you know it's true! In fact, I've always had my hands full of something...and it's usually knitting...

Sometimes baking...

Sometimes blogging,  and sometimes something else. I simply love creating something from nothing...it is so satisfying!

My daughter has inherited this trait, and she makes things when she can... but usually her hands are full of BOYS!

Yes, three boys are a handful! She and her hubby are doing a great job, but they rarely sit still long enough to enjoy it quietly. They enjoy it at full speed and volume!

I have heard that there are quiet moments after bedtime, but if I recall the days of young motherhood at all, I'll bet those quiet moments in the evenings are replaced by soft snoring as mom and dad fall asleep on the couch!

Still, she bakes and crafts (a bit) and generally has a good time watching their personalities come to the surface...and so do I.

Even though the girls recently relocated farther away, I'm glad to report that they are also crafty!

I look forward to visiting them someday "on the Prairie," but until then, I'll just keep knitting. Filling my hands with holiday fun!

So, in short (too late, I know), my hands and my heart are full. I hope yours are as well! Leave me a comment to let me know what you've been working on!

Knit Love

There's no ifs, ands or

about it, I love knitting toys! So, as you can see by the photo above, I'm knitting some alphabet blocks!

Recently, I've also knit a mermaid and a seahorse as part of a baby shower gift!

Now that the shower is finished, I can show you those, and the blanket! I took sea themed blocks and put them together into a lovey-sized blanket, just right for tossing over the car seat or spreading out to change a diaper. Also a great size for a toddler to drag around. 😀

Now I've moved on to slipper socks for sassy feet, two pair. Don't these feet look happy?

The biggest boy requested green and red, and was quite pleased with himself for choosing Christmas colors "when it isn't even Christmas! Isn't that funny, Gramma?!?"

Yes,  yes, it is, Kiddo!

And the blocks will take me awhile, so I'll be over here...knitting blocks and planning knits for the next first birthday, coming soon!

I knit love, in every stitch. It's just what i do!  What are you working on? Whatever it is, I hope you love it, and that it's bringing you joy.

I Have Some Limits

What, exactly, are my limits? I mean, everyone has limits, right? I can only knit so much, so fast, or for so long... or my tunnels will carpal. (Doesn't really stop me from trying to knit more, tho.)

I can only play so hard with the grandkids... or I'll be a little "limpy" later. (If you know me IRL, you know I generally accept the limpy better than the limitation.)

I can only eat so much at once... or my tummy will rebel with unwanted expulsions. (My solution? smaller plates...typically. Sometimes, tho,  you just accept that there's a price to pay.)

I can only drink so much... or I'll be dead asleep, wherever I sit. (If you're counting, my drink limit is currently one...if I sip it slow... because I don't drink very often at all.)

I can only drive about 5 over the speed limit, and even that makes my rule-following soul twitch a bit. (But I don't want that guy riding my tail actually touching my bumper. I also prefer to avoid speeding tickets!)

Speaking of speed limits, I realized recently that my life has really picked up speed! I am nearing that year of my life when I can "drive 55," because I'll be 55 for the entirety of 12 months. Wow! It feels like that is coming right out of nowhere.

55 years down, who knows how many more? So, I'll keep knitting...

I'll keep playing...

I'll keep eating... and (occasionally) drinking... and driving the speed limit... and having fun, fun, fun 'till my kiddos take the car keys a-wa-a-a-ay...lol!

And I'll keep blogging, so there's a record when I reach my final limit...hopefully many, many years from now.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll try to respect your limits this week, and Knit in Good Health!
