A Little Chicken?

This weekend, we took a little trip to see the military branch of our family.

Our oldest granddaughter is in a middle school production of Alice in Wonderland, and we couldn't wait to see the play and the whole family!

Because I am Gramma, I brought some yarny friends, one of whom was less than enthusiastic about flying!

While the chicken was feeling pretty [c]lucky for the opportunity to fly with zero effort, Ms Rabbit was afraid to open her eyes, even during boarding. One might say I was flying with TWO chickens!

Ms Chicken was anything but chicken. She spent most of our flights looking out the windows.

Of course, they both wanted to watch Pop Pop's movie, but Ms Rabbit was still a bit fearful. She sat in Pop Pop's lap to help her feel safe!

As our second flight was approaching our final destination, the crew tod us that we'd be passing through some bumpy weather...

They were not wrong, but we landed just fine,

...and once our stomachs settled, the girls dug into a cheeseburger while we waited to be picked up from the airport.

Back at the family's home, we noted that the dog is no longer afraid of us! (He's a very cute, very anxious pup, who has been fairly terrified of us since being adopted 2 years ago.) We don't get to see him very often, so this was a bit of a milestone!

We filled our short visit with roller blades,

trips to the craft store,

lunch at school,

balls and bats and bubbles,

and (of course) Alice (and her sister, Matilda)! This girl is definitely not chicken on stage!

She played the Dodo Bird, too...yay!

There was also the requisite screen-time,

which I will not begrudge them, as I sit blogging on my phone šŸ˜‰! It's been a great visit, and as you read this, I'll be boarding the plane for home. It's always sweet to return home, but I'll miss the time with them. Thank goodness for those screens!

I hope your week has been good, and thanks for stopping by. I'll surely be knitting in the sky as you read, and I hope your knitting isn't far from your side.

The White Stuff

Oh-oh, oh-oh-ohšŸŽ¶, the right stuff!

No-no-no...the "white" stuff! Because after I blogged last week, the white stuff came...and came, and came!

We had tickets to a show downtown, so we did not snuggle up and knit all day. We got on a bus at the YMCA, and headed out in a blizzard to see the most depressing musical I've ever seen, Parade. LOL...

See those smiles? We didn't really know what we were there to see yet, and we were happy to travel with a pleasant bunch of seniors to lunch and a show...especially since we had a professional driver through the snow.

Spoiler Alert:
Parade is the story of a Jewish man wrongly accused of murdering a young teenager. Despite the writeup of how hopeful and artistic this revived musical is, recounting the tale of love and devotion between the main characters (which it does well), the story does not end well for Leo Frank. It was very well done, but it was also a very hard watch.

When we got home, I hunkered down with my needles and took advantage of the snow as a photo prop for the first shock of a pair!

The winter weather has continued this week, and by the time this weekend rolled around, there was fresh powder on the giant snow pile plowed from our neighborhood streets and driveways. It was the perfect opportunity for little (and big) boys to climb and play!

And yesterday, I started a new project, which is always a lift! Just like the weather, this afghan will be mostly white.

It'll be awhile until it is impressive to look at, but I've finished the pink socks,

and the afghan was the next thing on my list...well, after the shamrocks and clover (St Patrick's Day is coming)!

There hasn't been much yarnwork today, since this crew has been "in the house" overnight, so I'll sign off here.

Thumbs down to no knitting!
Thumbs up to pancakes!
Naptime is nearly over, and playtime is just around the corner!

Thanks for stopping by and Knit in Good Health!

Sledding vid here, just for funsies!

Not Quite Speechless Saturday

Nothing super clever to say today, but lots going on! Cupcake baking...

Remembering last weekend's road trip to see my granddaughter in Annie Jr:

And another granddaughter on the soccer field:

Walks around their neighborhood, and to the playground:

Knitting...

Sewing (because those toys need a place to live)...

More knitting (colors don't have enough contrast for fair-aisle, but I still like it!)...

And even more knitting!

It's been a fun-and-busy week, and there's more to come! Those cupcakes mean it's a birthday weekend,  after all!

How has your week been? I hope good, or at least not bad...in any case, thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you find something here to smile about!
