Happy 5th of July!

I hope all of my US friends are recovering well from yesterday's fun! What's your favorite part of celebrating summer holidays? Mine is the people and the decorations, which are sometimes combined...

Red, white and blue glitter on Pop Pop (and most everyone, lol!), banners out by the s'mores station and accidentally matching grandmas were a highlight of yesterday's 4th of July fun! Also a highlight: the food!

Our Jess throws a pretty fun party, and this is her biggest "to do" of the year,  including cousin time,

water balloons,

splash pad fun,

corn hole,

and even a piñata, full of fun!

Even the new puppy had a visiting puppy pal cousin! She was so excited to play, she was "crazy eyes" excited...all. day. long!

It was a warm and wonderful day to enjoy family and friends, and to try and find shelter from those water balloons!,

There were cool, (relatively) quiet areas for adults to "set a spell,"

and plenty of spaces to try and step away from the crazy for at least a moment...well, unless you're Pop Pop!

Uncle Allen amd Uncle Drew even provided us with some fireworks before the day was over!

Happy birthday, America! , and I hope everyone had as much fun celebrating yesterday as we did.

Thanks for stopping by, and Knit in Good Health!

Final ZK Thoughts & more

I was really hoping for a bonus post, but it was not in the cards 🙄, so here's the final wrap up of all the ZK fun. First, the all-important stash enhancement reveal...

Everything marked with a chicken 🐔 was purchased. The rest were from the goodie bags, or they were Prizes! Like this lovely Handspun from 716 Knit, which is a where those pretty minis came from, too!

On my first trip into the market, a half-hour early (as a prize), these fun things jumped into my arms, begging to come home with me:

Soap and solid lotion from Tuft Woolens, a sparkly skein of the June colorway from Leading Men Fiber Arts (also a prize, my  "heart's desire," thanks Megan and Amy!), and two knitting kits from Mochimochi LandBonus: Anna signed the puppy kit, and I am still over the moon! And (apparently) incorrigible! 🤣

I held onto all of that for some time before heading back for more Leading Men yarn to go with the sparkle, which the internet says should be delivered any day now (there was not enough of the dark blue "It's Cold Outside!" on the rack in the showstopper base, so they're shipping it, Yay!)

Eventually, I even went in for a third purchase as well, which included a neat, fabric square that snaps at the corners to form a handy tray to hold whatever fun things you can find, and some earrings (not shown, can't remember seller)...great stuff!

Oh! And did I show you all the goodies from that goodie bag? Not to mention the sturdy, canvas bag itself, there was a 16-18oz mug from Deneen Pottery, a skein from one of the dyers (mine is from Queen City Yarns), patches and stickers and needle minders (oh, my!), and the annual Panne"koupons" from Hollandberry Pannekoeken

Now that I'm home, I've officially finished the traveling socks,

and I've nearly finished a cowl kit that traveled to Minnesota with me, "just in case" I needed another project...

...which I did not need, lol...because I was having so much fun with the knitters! After all, there were three, count 'em, three Pams at ZK! That's a photo op if ever there was one!

Also pictured are Kat and Pretty, Leah and Pretty, and an officially official Mochimochi Land Gnome, knit by Anna herself! What could be more fun than having this guy come home with me?

Not much is more fun than that, unless we're talking grandkids and trips to the zoo,

or coffee in a new, giant mug with a new, tiny gnome!

So, yeah. I'm still flying high on the fun I had as I slip back into the routines of home. All is well, and I'm sure we'll still have some excitement on our horizons. After all, Cedar Point is still in my backyard, a mere 45 minutes away. I hear that Siren's Curse opened yesterday, and that certainly sounds super fun!

I hope your summer has already given you some funtimes, too, and that your heart's desire isn't too far away.

Thanks for stopping by and Knit in Good Health!

ZK2025 [almost] in Review

Coming to you live from Rochester, Minnesota, at the 2025 Zombie Knitpocolypse, this Pretty reporter brings you news that all the chickens have indeed been found on the 3rd floor at the Hilton.

Missed your chance to find a chicken? No worries, head straight to the Mochimochiland website or to Ravelry to find the pattern and knit your own! Knit 1, or knit 24 to share with friends!

Not into chickens? There are so many other playful pattern options, so stop and play for a bit in Mochimochiland! The Mochimochi Master of the site (and the knits) is Anna Hrachovic, and this reporter fan-girled hard when she met Anna at ZK2025!

Anna's talk was superb,

as were so many parts of this knitting retreat. From laughing and playing with friends

to laughing and playing with yarn,

the last few days have been a whirlwind of fun for more than 160 knitters from around the country. Also present was the ever popular Eunice, from Why Knot Fibers, who even donned her crochet bikini for the hottest of the hot days...

This reporter also witnessed sheepy shenanigans on the stairs (escalator does not start with "s"),

Eunice's adventures with fiber and knitting,

refreshments,

naps and coffee,

and her ongoing search for a tape measure that would indicate that the body of that sweater she's been working on for two years is finally long enough to start the ribbing.

Words on the street is that she even found some new friends

and a chicken! Lucky duck!...errr, sheep.

This reporter sincerely hopes that Eunice got some sleep last night, and that her head is not pounding this morning...but I did see her getting pretty "chummy" with the photo booth guy...

...and she did take a dip in the titty pool ("knitted knockers" for charity) late into the night...

Thankfully, this reporter practiced restraint with the spirits, but she may lose her resolve and restraint when it comes to breakfast at Hollandberry Pannakoken

and the Market later today!

If you're near Rochester, MN, that market will be open to the public at 1pm, so make your way over! In the meantime, this reporter thanks you for stopping by, and encourages you Knit in Good Health! 😘

PS - Not sponsored by anyone but Pretty, who lives to share what she loves! Do you knit yet? If you don't, you should...knitters are fun, and knitting is good!
